German Wine Route: Obrigheim
Obrigheim has 2800 inhabitants and an area of 10,8 km². It is a conglomeration of the villages Albsheim, Heidesheim, Obrigheim, Muehlheim, Neuoffstein and Colgenstein. The main village Obrigheim was first documentary mentioned in the 13th century as "Obernheim", the other villages have been first documentary mentioned in the 8th century.
Obrigheim has numerous tidy vintner houses, mostly framework buildings of the 17th and 18th century.
The choir steeple of the protestant church of Saint Giles was built around 1500 and was extended in 1910, the nave was built in 1865.
